Itanagar, September 4: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) on Friday addressed a press conference over the violence reported at Bordumsa during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. AAPSU demanded the immediate suspension of the SIR exercise in Chakma and Hajong areas, along with the immediate arrest of those allegedly involved in the attack on AAPSU members during the verification process. The students’ body also demanded that no FIR be registered against AAPSU members in connection with the incident, stating that action should instead be taken against those responsible for the violence. AAPSU President Meje Taku appealed to all organisations, political parties, social organisations, unions and branch student unions of Arunachal Pradesh to attend a meeting scheduled for September 12 at DK Hall. According to Taku, the meeting will discuss the situation in detail, adopt a final resolution and decide the next course of action concerning the interests of the indigenous people of Arunachal Pradesh.
