In this video, I'll show you how to automate Dataflow and Semantic Model refresh using Power Automate. In my previous video, we implemented the same requirement using Microsoft Fabric Pipeline. In this video, we'll take the same scenario and build the automation using Power Automate. The objective is to make sure that the Dataflow refresh completes successfully before the Semantic Model refresh starts. We'll build the process step by step and understand how Power Automate can be used to orchestrate a Power BI / Microsoft Fabric refresh workflow. 🚀 What You'll Learn In this tutorial, we'll cover: ✅ How to trigger a Dataflow refresh using Power Automate ✅ How to monitor the Dataflow refresh status ✅ How to wait until the Dataflow refresh is completed ✅ How to handle Dataflow refresh success and failure ✅ How to trigger a Semantic Model refresh ✅ How to create dependencies between refresh activities ✅ How to send failure notifications ✅ How to build an end-to-end automated refresh process ✅ Power Automate vs Fabric Pipeline for refresh orchestration 🔄 End-to-End Refresh Architecture The workflow demonstrated in this video is: Power Automate → Dataflow Refresh → Check Refresh Status → Semantic Model Refresh → Notification If the Dataflow refresh fails, the Semantic Model refresh should not proceed. Instead, we can notify the appropriate users about the failure. This approach can be particularly useful when you're building automated Power BI and Microsoft Fabric data solutions and want to combine data refresh with Microsoft 365 services such as Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, and other Power Platform components. ⚡ Fabric Pipeline vs Power Automate In the previous video, we used Fabric Pipeline for the same refresh orchestration. In this video, you'll see how we can achieve a similar workflow using Power Automate and understand where each approach can be useful. Fabric Pipeline is particularly useful for data orchestration and Fabric workloads, while Power Automate can be very useful when your refresh process needs to interact with business workflows, notifications, Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, approvals, and other Microsoft 365 services. 👨‍💻 Technologies Covered Microsoft Power Automate Microsoft Fabric Power BI Dataflow / Dataflow Gen2 Semantic Model Power BI Refresh Fabric Data Refresh Microsoft Teams Outlook Power Platform Data Orchestration If you're a Power BI Developer, Microsoft Fabric Developer, Data Analyst, BI Developer, Data Engineer, or Power Platform Developer, this tutorial can help you understand how to build a practical refresh automation solution. 👍 If you found this video useful, please Like the video. 💬 Let me know in the comments: Which approach do you prefer for refresh automation — Fabric Pipeline or Power Automate? 🔔 Don't forget to Subscribe to SolutionBridge Network for more tutorials on Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Power Automate, Power Apps, DAX, Power Query, and Data Analytics.
