Busy Afternoon at Naval Air Station Point Mugu | E-2 Hawkeye, Mirage F1, P-8 Poseidon & More!

On our second trip to the USA in 2025, we had one afternoon to spend at Naval Air Station Point Mugu, California. Naval Air Station Point Mugu, located along the Pacific coast near the city of Oxnard, serves as a key U.S. Navy aerospace testing and operational hub. It hosts several major units, including Air Test and Evaluation Squadron 30 (VX‑30) and the Navy’s premier sea range operations centers, which support missile tests, unmanned systems development, and electronic warfare programs. Its coastal location provides unobstructed air and sea space, making it strategically important for research, training, and fleet readiness across the Pacific. For that reason, NAS Point Mugu is always busy. Just a minute after we arrived we were treated by the arrival of a pair of Grumman E-2D Hawkeyes, and the action did not stop there. Enjoy!
