NO MORE TRASH BAGS: Comfort Cases Offer Dignity for Franklin County Children Coming into Foster Care

When children and teens are quickly removed from unsafe environments, they often face a sudden transition without any luggage for their clothes and personal belongings. Historically, many were forced to pack their lives into trash bags. Franklin County Children Services has been able to prevent that - and provide dignity and compassion during these difficult transitions - with help from community partners who have donated special backpacks filled with comforting personal item. Recently, Aetna's OhioRISE volunteers partnered with the national non-profit Comfort Cases to pack nearly 200 customized backpacks, tailored to a child's age and needs.
