Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 282—the longest verse in the Qur’an—provides comprehensive guidance for conducting financial transactions with clarity, fairness, and accountability. Allah instructs believers to document debts that are due at a future date, clearly specify their terms, and involve trustworthy witnesses. The person recording the agreement must write truthfully and impartially, while the debtor should honestly state the terms without reducing anything owed. If the debtor cannot manage the process, a responsible guardian should act justly on their behalf. This verse teaches that documenting financial agreements is not a sign of mistrust. Rather, it protects everyone’s rights, prevents disputes, strengthens testimony, and removes doubt. It also reminds us that ethical business dealings are part of our obedience and accountability to Allah. Key lessons: Put deferred debts and financial agreements in writing. Clearly record the amount, terms, and repayment date. Ensure the writer and witnesses act with fairness. Protect the rights of vulnerable individuals. Never harm or pressure writers and witnesses. Conduct every transaction with honesty and awareness of Allah. “Be mindful of Allah, for Allah teaches you—and Allah has perfect knowledge of all things.” #SurahAlBaqarah #Ayah282 #QuranReflection #DebtInIslam #IslamicFinance #FinancialJustice #BusinessEthics #IslamicReminder #QuranLessons
