Jeep Wrangler JK Parking Brake Replacement

Replacing the parking brake in my 2007 Jeep Wrangler JK without having to remove the console completely. Mopar Lever-Parking Brake 52059887Ae Several people asked about attempting to replace ONLY the cable instead of the whole parking brake assembly. With enough effort, many things are possible but in my opinion, attempting to replace just the cable would be a nightmare. You would need special tools that cost more than just replacing the whole thing. The spring loaded mechanism would be tough and welding/soldering the little anchors on the end of the cables would be irritating. Perhaps you could rig an anchor using compression bolts or something. Overall, not worth the effort.
