The attraction opened in March 1994 as part of an expansion that also introduced the neighbouring Le Pays des Contes de Fées. The colourful circus train travels along approximately 300 metres of track above and around Storybook Land, providing a different perspective of many of the miniature landscapes also seen from the boats of Le Pays des Contes de Fées. The powered coaster system drives the train throughout the journey rather than relying entirely on gravity like a traditional roller coaster, creating a series of gentle climbs, drops and sweeping turns. Casey Jr. is based on the anthropomorphic steam locomotive from Walt Disney's 1941 animated film Dumbo. In the film, Casey Jr. pulls the circus train carrying the performers and animals from town to town, accompanied by the memorable Casey Junior song. The Disneyland Paris attraction incorporates onboard audio, beginning with Casey's "I think I can" climb before the music accompanies the train around the course. Storybook Land combines Casey Jr. - le Petit Train du Cirque with Le Pays des Contes de Fées, allowing the same miniature Disney landscapes to be experienced from two different perspectives. The neighbouring boat ride received a major refurbishment in 2024, updating the landscape with scenes from Frozen, Winnie the Pooh and Pixar's Up alongside existing worlds inspired by Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Tangled, The Little Mermaid, Fantasia, Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast. The original Casey Jr. Circus Train opened at Disneyland in California in July 1955, shortly after the park itself. Unlike the Disneyland Paris attraction, the California version operates as a miniature railway rather than a powered roller coaster. Its route also travels around Storybook Land, sharing the landscape with the original Storybook Land Canal Boats. Casey Jr. is located towards the rear of Fantasyland, close to Alice's Curious Labyrinth and "it's a small world". Fantasyland surrounds Sleeping Beauty Castle and includes Peter Pan's Flight, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Mad Hatter's Tea Cups, Blanche-Neige et les Sept Nains, Les Voyages de Pinocchio and Le Pays des Contes de Fées. Disneyland Park opened as Euro Disneyland on 12th April 1992 and consists of Main Street, U.S.A., Frontierland, Adventureland, Fantasyland and Discoveryland, arranged around Sleeping Beauty Castle at the centre of the park. Disneyland Paris is located in Chessy, around 32 km east of Paris and includes Disneyland Park, Disney Adventure World, Disney Village and Disney Hotels. The resort expanded significantly in 2026 with World of Frozen, Adventure Way and Adventure Bay at Disney Adventure World, while development continues on The Pride Lands, La Terre des Lions, inspired by Disney's The Lion King.
