THE MANGO TREE HE OUTGREW KEPT GIVING ANYWAY | Dag Heward-Mills

Dag Heward-Mills tells the story of a boy who grew up playing in a mango tree, climbing it and picking its fruit like an old friend. Every time he got older he decided he was done with it - too grown to play, then cutting its branches for a house, then its trunk for a boat, writing the tree off at every stage of his life. By the time he was old and had nothing left, the same tree was still there, offering its roots as a resting place. Dag turns the story straight onto his own pastors, saying some of them think they're done needing him too.
