Endless Pattern: A talk about the boomloom for New York Textile Month 2026

Part of NYTM 2026, this talk covers the development of the boomloom, some of its patternmaking capabilities, and related digital patternmaking tools as a way to access the design language of weaving. We discussed the possibilities in traditional structures on this loom, such as twill, monk's belt, krokbragd, rosepath, waffle weave, and doubleweave, and applications in public art and personal practice. I also shared about the loom's active community and how it is being used in grade schools, universities, public art projects and by artists with disabilities.
