First Asphalt Laid on the 9.2KM Sunyani Inner Ring Road Under Big Push Project 4K

The construction of the Sunyani Inner Ring Road has reached a major milestone, with the first asphalt layer being laid on the 9.2-kilometre stretch from Fiapre Roundabout, through the Getfund Hostel area, to Sunyani Technical University Roundabout. In this episode, Engineer Newton takes you closer to the road construction process, documenting the asphalt paving operation from the air and on the ground. Watch as asphalt trucks deliver the hot asphalt mix to two Shantui asphalt pavers, which spread the material across the road. Steel-drum rollers and a pneumatic tyre roller then compact the asphalt to achieve the required density and a smooth, durable surface. The layer being laid is known as the binder course, which forms an important part of the asphalt pavement structure. The final wearing course will follow at a later stage to provide the finished road surface. The project is being undertaken by Kofi Job under the government's Big Push infrastructure programme. The completed road is expected to provide an alternative route for motorists and help ease traffic congestion within the Sunyani business district. The Bono Regional Minister and the Municipal Chief Executive for Sunyani West were also present to observe progress on the project. Meanwhile, construction work continues on the Sunyani Outer Ring Road, another important infrastructure project expected to improve movement around the city.
