In a session hosted by Dyslexia BC; Dr. Steve Truch discusses the Definition of Dyslexia and how to treat it with intense remediation. He shows where the definition of dyslexia in the DSM-5, and discusses Canadian issues regarding dyslexia. One of the biggest issues in Canada is that schools are busy trying to keep up with curriculum, do not screen with evidence based screeners starting in kindergarten, do not use evidence based reading and writing methods to teach students and there isn't effective remedial centers for students with dyslexia. Proper assessment with psycho educational assessment is also discouraged within districts for a number of reasons.
