12 burger styles from around the world —
explained one by one.
From the burger that started everything
to the ones you have probably never tried,
this video covers every major burger style,
where it comes from, what makes it different,
and why it deserves a place on this list. 🍔
EVERY BURGER COVERED IN THIS VIDEO:
1. Classic American — the original template.
Ground beef, American cheese, soft bun,
pickles, ketchup, mustard. Everything else
either follows this or deliberately breaks from it.
2. Smash Burger — pressed paper-thin on a screaming
hot flat top griddle. The most caramelised crust
of any burger style. Two patties. Cheese between them.
One of the most satisfying burgers ever made.
3. Oklahoma Onion Burger — born during the Great Depression
in El Reno, Oklahoma. Raw onions pressed directly
into the patty as it cooks, caramelising into the meat.
An economic necessity that became a legendary burger style.
4. Steakhouse — thick hand-formed patty from a specific
beef blend. Chuck, brisket, short rib.
Grilled over flame, not a flat top.
Aged cheese, caramelised onions, serious bun.
The burger as a proper restaurant dish.
5. Wagyu — made from Japanese Wagyu beef with
extraordinary intramuscular fat marbling.
Richer, more tender, more deeply flavoured
than any standard ground beef patty.
Cooks differently. Tastes completely different.
6. Veggie — the category that has changed more
than any other in the last decade.
From compressed bean patties to precision-engineered
plant proteins that replicate beef almost exactly.
Two completely different philosophies in one name.
7. Japanese Teriyaki — a thick beef patty glazed
in sweet savoury teriyaki sauce,
served on a soft milk bread bun with
lettuce and Japanese-style mayonnaise.
Japan took the American burger format
and made it entirely its own.
8. Korean BBQ — gochujang-seasoned beef patty,
kimchi, gochujang sauce, pickled daikon,
sesame, Asian milk bread bun.
The smash burger technique meets Korean pantry.
One of the most exciting burger styles
of the last five years.
9. Mexican — guacamole, pico de gallo,
jalapeños, cotija cheese, chipotle sauce.
The flavours of Mexican cuisine applied
to the burger format with complete confidence.
Fresh, spiced, rich, layered.
10. Aussie — the Australian burger that is genuinely
unlike anything else on this list.
Fried egg. Beetroot. Bacon. Cheese. Pineapple.
Lettuce. Tomato. All of it together.
Australians do not apologise for this
and they are right not to.
11. Swiss Mushroom — sautéed mushrooms piled high,
Swiss cheese melted completely over the patty,
the earthy savoury combination that has been
a steakhouse menu fixture for decades.
Simple. Reliable. Properly good.
12. Breakfast Burger — a fried egg, bacon,
cheese and a beef patty combined into one.
The two great American meat meals —
breakfast and a burger — merged completely.
No apology necessary.
Whether you are a burger obsessive, a curious eater,
or simply someone who wants to understand
why every one of these exists —
this video covers all twelve properly.
