A new championship begins with GFnR eWRC 2, Championship 78, opening the season with Rally Sardegna in the WRC2 class in EA SPORTS WRC.
Unfortunately, the event did not start particularly well.
I made a couple of mistakes early on and also picked up a cut penalty, which immediately made the opening stages more difficult than I wanted.
But the bigger problem started from SS2, when the shoulder pain returned.
🇮🇹 Rally Sardegna - Difficult Start
Sardegna is already a demanding rally.
The narrow roads, rough surface and constant need for precision mean small mistakes can quickly become expensive.
My opening stages were not especially clean.
A few driving errors combined with a cut penalty meant I was already losing more time than planned.
Even so, I managed to settle into a better rhythm as the event continued.
💪 Shoulder Pain Returns
From SS2, the shoulder pain started coming back.
At first, it was manageable.
I could still focus on the driving and maintain a reasonable pace, but as the rally progressed the pain gradually became stronger.
That made the later stages increasingly difficult.
Rallying requires constant steering corrections and quick reactions, so once the shoulder starts hurting, concentration becomes much harder to maintain.
🔥 Pace Was Still There
Despite the discomfort, the middle part of the rally went reasonably well.
I managed to reduce the number of mistakes and find a more consistent rhythm.
The pace was still there, and considering the situation I was pretty satisfied with how the event was developing.
Unfortunately, by the final stage the shoulder pain had become much worse.
💥 Final Stage - Concentration Starts to Go
By the last stage, the pain was strong enough that I could no longer focus properly.
That immediately showed in the driving.
I made several mistakes and also collected a couple more cut penalties, which cost additional time.
Not the way I wanted to finish the opening round, but at that point simply getting through the stage became the priority.
🥈 Provisional P2
Despite the mistakes, penalties and shoulder problems, I am currently sitting comfortably in provisional P2.
Ahead is Simon, who once again seems to be operating on another level when it comes to EA WRC.
So considering everything that happened during the rally, P2 is still a result I can be very satisfied with.
Of course, the position remains provisional until the rest of the field completes the event.
🏁 Conclusion
Round 1 of the new GFnR eWRC 2 Championship turned into a much tougher event than expected.
The rally started with mistakes and a cut penalty, and from SS2 the shoulder pain returned and gradually became worse.
The middle stages went better, but by the final stage the pain was strong enough to affect concentration and lead to more mistakes and penalties.
Even with all of that, I am currently holding provisional P2.
Simon is once again setting an incredible pace, but considering the circumstances, I am very satisfied to still be comfortably second.
Not a clean rally.
Not an easy rally.
But still a strong start to the championship.
Rally Sardegna. WRC2. Round 1.
Provisional P2.
Never Give Up.
