The SS concentration camps on Alderney are the only ones ever built on British soil. Eight miles off France, the three-square-mile Channel Island was evacuated in June 1940 and turned into an Atlantic Wall fortress by Organisation Todt with 7,600 labourers in four camps. In March 1943 Lager Sylt and Lager Norderney became satellites of Neuengamme. The film traces the 70,000-death myth, the documented 641 to 1,027 deaths, and how the files were sent to Moscow and forgotten for 80 years.
