After much thought, I chose “Jour D’Automne” by Albert Lozeau and “Soirs D’Automne” by Émile Nelligan for today’s playlist. Though neither depicts the holiday or the harvest, both speak of weariness and reflection—yet they embody the true spirit of gratitude. Their sorrow is gentle, their calmness healing. Life is never easy. Both poems use autumn as a metaphor somehow— from pain to peace, from nature’s stillness to the heart’s. Isn’t that something to be thankful for? Over the past year, I’ve been most grateful for the poem and my playlist “March”, which began the French “Memory” series. “Soirs D’Automne” also speaks of “memory”. Thank you, memory—I still remember.
