Somerset & Dorset Railway - 'Pines Express Remembered' 18/09/2022

The Somerset & Dorset Railway demonstrated a good show in the face of adversity, as they held their 'Pines Express Remembered' weekend. Taking place over the weekend of September 17th-18th, the event was to mark the 60th anniversary since the final 'Pines Express' travelled over the Somerset and Dorset Railway in 1962. Though the titled service did carry on until 1967, this was over diverted routes, with the service not returning to S&D metals. For the event, Ivatt Class 2MT Tank - 41312 would visit the railway, joining 5459 "Austin 1" as the steam traction for the event. However, on Sunday morning before services started for the day, 41312 was failed due to a broken spring, leaving "Austin 1" to bare the brunt of services, while the Ivatt was on display in the down platform.
