What are You Reading? What are You Writing? ep. 355 with Kasey Landsdale

She thought she was investigating one murdered teenager. Then the evidence suggested something much more disturbing. Kasey Lansdale returns to join award-winning author Karen E. Osborne—this time to celebrate her debut novel, First Chance, and introduce private investigator Chance Kirby. Chance has moved to Hopeful, Texas, determined to build a life outside her family's shadow. But when the cold case of a murdered teenage girl lands on her doorstep, her investigation begins pointing toward a predator who may have escaped detection for decades. Karen and Kasey explore the premise, the characters surrounding Chance, and what it takes to launch the first book in a new mystery series. They also talk music, Kasey's experience forging her own creative identity as part of a famous family, and the Spotify playlist that accompanies First Chance. And, of course, Kasey has book recommendations for your TBR. In this conversation: cold cases • female private investigators • creating a mystery series • family and identity • music and storytelling • book playlists • memorable characters • book recommendations.
