Under Central Parkway in Cincinnati there is a subway station where no train has ever stopped. The city began digging in January 1920, finished about two miles of tunnel and three underground stations, and then the money ran out. Why Cincinnati built a subway in the bed of an old canal, why the work stopped, and why, a hundred years later, the city has never run a train through it and never filled it in.
