Most heavy bikes don't go down out on the open road. They tip over at walking pace, beside a gas pump or at a stop sign, from eight small habits. Here is how my old unit trained them out:
• Eyes three seconds ahead, and soft hands instead of stiff arms
• Front brake or rear brake, and stopping with the bars straight
• Cold tire checks, then the clutch and rear brake sharing the work
• Staying tall while the bike leans under you in a slow turn
• Japan's ten-second plank, rebuilt in a parking lot with chalk

This week, chalk two lines twelve inches apart and forty-nine feet long in an empty lot, ride between them in first gear with the rear brake dragging, and tell me in the comments if you held it OVER or UNDER seven seconds without a foot down.
