EUROPEAN RAILWAYS of the 1990s
Wasserbillig Station (Luxembourg CFL) on 28th May 1999
Commune of Mertert
On the mainline out of Luxembourg, going towards Trier in Germany, is situated the pretty town of Wasserbillig in the commune of Mertert, in eastern Luxembourg. Trains ran from here to Trier and back to Luxembourg in the hands of class 3600 locomotives and DB Diesel Multiple Units, loaned to the CFL. I witnessed some very long freight services, hauled by DB electric class 181 Locomotives. A solitary Shunting class 1000 was on duty in the station and sidings and a DB service from Luxembourg to Trier in the hands of a DB Diesel Locomotive class 215. This was an intense visit with friendly staff of the CFL, making the day a very pleasant one. I do hope this video entertains and evokes old fond memories of the European Railway Scene of the era. I hope you are enjoying the series, and if you are familiar with the areas featured, feel free to comment and if you do like the clip please subscribe and Like.
