COSI x Cosmic Rhapsody - Astrophysics meets the Performing Arts

Join NASA COSI Principal Investigator Dr. John Tomsick and Cosmic Rhapsody Creator Dr. Susan Lim and for an extraordinary 10-minute exploration bridging high-energy astrophysics and the performing arts. Featuring live footage from the Cosmic Rhapsody World Premiere at the Barbican (with Jean-Yves Thibaudet, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and London Voices) alongside vibrant story animation, this film reveals the parallel journeys of scientific discovery and artistic creation. Culminating in the climactic symphonic songs “Confetti Star-ion” and “Confetti Storm,” the discussion reveals how COSI’s study of galactic nucleosynthesis mirrors the narrative climax of Cosmic Rhapsody -where supernova-liberated elements rain down as stardust confetti, celebrating the shared chemical constituents of our planet. Countdown with us to the Hollywood Bowl orchestral premiere (July 27, 2027) and the COSI mission launch at Cape Canaveral (2027).
