A real-time visual record of the trail along the Hetch Hetchy Reservoir, passing Tueeulala and Wapama Falls. This silent, full-length POV video documents the outbound section of the Rancheria Falls Trail in the Hetch Hetchy Valley of Yosemite National Park. Starting at the O'Shaughnessy Dam trailhead (1,169 m / 3,835 ft), this route covers 10.6 km (6.6 mi) with continuous rolling terrain, reaching a high point of around 1,433 m (4,700 ft) at Rancheria Falls. The hike begins by crossing O'Shaughnessy Dam and passing through a granite tunnel onto the north shore of the Hetch Hetchy Reservoir. The trail follows a rocky, exposed path along the reservoir wall, crossing beneath Tueeulala Falls at km 3.6 (2.3 mi) and traversing the wooden footbridges at the base of Wapama Falls at km 4.4 (2.7 mi). Beyond Wapama Falls, the trail climbs through granite terrain and mixed woodland, fording Tiltill Creek before reaching the footbridge at Rancheria Falls. Trail surfaces vary from paved concrete and granite rock steps to loose dirt and gravel washouts. Sunlight exposure is high along the reservoir, and water mist on the Wapama Falls bridges can create slick footing. Filmed in real time in 4K HDR with ambient hiking sounds and no music or commentary, this video provides a clear visual record of trail surfaces, switchback gradients, and footing conditions. This video is part of a series documenting a California hiking trip in autumn 2024. This video is best viewed on high-resolution HDR displays. Producing such videos takes much effort.
