One week after the storm of October 1–4, 2026, Crete is counting a different kind of damage. On the Lasithi Plateau, floodwater arrived at harvest time and stayed: potatoes and vegetables still in the ground, storage sheds, tractors and pumping stations under water and mud. In Mylopotamos, about 2,500 people in Zoniana, Livadia and Krana lost their water supply — now repaired, but not yet cleared for drinking. And in the Samaria Gorge, eight workers are still waiting for the waters to fall. In this update: what the satellites measured (3,917 stremmata still flooded on Sunday afternoon), why the official damage total is still unknown, how the Aposelemis reservoir refilled past 13.5 million cubic metres, and what Crete watches next. Earth Weather Report — verified weather and disaster news. Figures are sourced from Copernicus EMS reporting via Greek press, local media and official statements; early local loss estimates are labelled as estimates in the narration. Some B-roll is comparable flood and farmland illustration from an earlier Greek flood event, used only where no current-event camera existed; it is never presented as this week's footage at the named places.
