Where WVU belongs in my Big 12 Football Preseason Power Ratings

How does every team stack up entering the 2026 Big 12 football season? Before Big 12 Media Days kick off in Frisco, Texas, I break down my complete 2026 preseason Big 12 power rankings, ranking all 16 teams based on overall roster strength, coaching, returning production, recruiting, quarterback play, and outlook entering the season. The Big 12 looks as unpredictable as ever. Unlike the SEC and Big Ten, there isn't a clear favorite separating itself from the pack. Instead, the conference is loaded with experienced quarterbacks, accomplished head coaches, and teams capable of winning one-score games every week. In this episode, I discuss: 🏈 Why I have Texas Tech as my preseason favorite 🏈 Where teams like BYU, Houston, Arizona, Arizona State, Utah, and TCU fit into the title race 🏈 Why I currently have West Virginia ranked 8th, sitting squarely in what I call the conference's "crab pot"—a tightly packed second tier where nearly every team has legitimate strengths but equally important question marks. 🏈 WVU's biggest strengths entering 2026 🏈 The biggest concerns still facing Rich Rodriguez and the Mountaineers 🏈 How returning production, transfer portal additions, high school recruiting, coaching pedigree, and quarterback play shaped my rankings This isn't a prediction of the final standings. These are my preseason power ratings based on where I believe each program stands on paper today. We'll dive much deeper into West Virginia throughout the summer, but before the season begins, I think it's important to see where every team fits within the conference landscape. Do you agree with my rankings? Who's too high? Who's too low? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
