Originating in the 15th-century Neo-Vaishnavite Renaissance, these "Sacred Songs" were crafted by the saint-reformer Srimanta Sankardev and his disciple Madhavdev to propagate the philosophy of Ek Sarana Hari Naam Dharma. This spiritual revolution birthed a rich cultural tapestry, including: Borgeet: Classical devotional music, Sattriya: A sacred dance form, Ankiya Bhaona: Symbolic one-act plays, Sattras & Namghars: Monasteries and prayer halls that remain the heart of Assamese life. Prana Sakha was composed by Sri Sri Madhavdev, the foremost disciple of Srimanta Sankardev.
