Can a 3-Row Subaru SUV be a Tuner Car? | Tuner Dad Ep. 1

A three-row Subaru SUV probably isn’t the first thing you think of when you hear “tuner car.” That’s exactly why I picked it. Welcome to Episode 1 of the Tuner Dad build. In the last video, I introduced the idea behind Tuner Dad: Family Car. Tuner Soul. I wanted to build something that could legitimately handle life with a family of five without completely giving up the part of me that still loves modified cars. So I needed something that was: ✓ Practical for a family of five ✓ Had plenty of space ✓ Was actually fun to drive, preferably turbocharged ✓ Had real potential to become something different And somehow that checklist led me here: the Subaru Ascent. It’s a three-row, AWD, turbocharged family SUV…and now I’m going to see how far we can take it. The Subaru Ascent definitely isn’t a WRX or STI, but that’s part of what makes this build interesting. It’s a turbocharged, AWD, three-row family SUV that shares some Subaru DNA with the cars enthusiasts already love. The goal isn’t to turn an Ascent into a WRX, it’s to see what happens when we bring a little tuner-car attitude to Subaru’s family hauler. The plan includes suspension, stance, wheels and tires, chrome delete, lighting, exhaust, exterior styling and eventually some performance upgrades — while keeping it comfortable, reliable and genuinely usable as our family car.
