[CCM]🌿 THE BIBLE — THEIR PRAYERS | #08 Isaac’s Prayer
〈May the Well Never Run Dry〉
“Lord, let the well within me never run dry.”
Isaac’s life began with a moment he would never forget.
As a boy, he walked beside his father Abraham up Mount Moriah. He asked, “Father, where is the lamb for the offering?” Then he found himself lying upon the altar, until the moment God stopped the hand that held the blade and provided a lamb in the thicket.
From that day on, Isaac’s life was no longer his own. He learned the quiet way of obedience.
Years later, carrying the sorrow of losing his mother Sarah, Isaac sat alone in the fields, meditating before the Lord. Then Rebekah arrived—the woman God had prepared for him. Through her, comfort returned to his wounded heart, and the promise of life was planted once again in his home.
But Isaac’s journey was not without conflict.
When famine came upon the land, God blessed his hands with a hundredfold harvest. Yet the Philistines grew jealous and filled the wells he had dug.
Isaac did not fight. He moved on and dug another well.
When that well was contested, he moved again. At last, the fighting stopped, and water broke through the ground. He called the place **Rehoboth**, declaring that the Lord had made room for them.
Isaac’s story speaks to us in a quiet but powerful way.
Sometimes people block the wells we have worked so hard to dig. Our efforts seem wasted, our hearts are wounded, and we feel compelled to fight to protect what is ours.
But Isaac chose another way.
He did not seek a great name. He sought the peace of God.
His gentleness was not weakness. His willingness to move on was not defeat. He trusted that God could make a way where human strength could not.
As I reflected on Isaac’s life while creating this song, I was reminded that peace is not merely the absence of conflict. It is also the decision to keep loving, keep trusting, and keep digging deeper into the well of God’s grace.
“Give me a gentle heart.
Teach me the way of obedience.
And let the well within me never run dry.”
May we learn to plant peace with the very hands that have been wounded. May we leave behind not bitterness, but a spring of living water wherever we go.
And as Isaac carried Abraham’s covenant into the next generation, may the faith and love we receive from God continue to flow through our lives into the hearts of our children and those who come after us.
Lord, let the well within me never run dry.
Let living water flow wherever I go.
May their prayers become our prayers.
May their tears become our tears.
May their faith awaken our faith. 🙏
From Their Hearts to Our Prayer.
