James 1:12-18 - Bible Class 10.21.26 - Temptation & the Goodness of God - Lesson 3

Why do we face temptation? Where does temptation come from? And how can we remain faithful when doing what is right becomes difficult? In this lesson from our Wednesday night Bible study series, A Faith That Works, we examine James 1:12–18 and discover an important distinction: God may allow our faith to be tested, but He never tempts us to sin. James reminds us that temptation often begins with our own desires, that sin carries serious consequences, and that God remains the unchanging source of every good and perfect gift. In this lesson, we explore three important truths: ** Faith Endures the Test (James 1:12) — Remaining faithful through trials demonstrates our love for God and points us toward His promise of the crown of life. ** Faith Accepts Responsibility for Temptation (James 1:13–16) — Understanding how temptation works helps us recognize its dangers, guard our hearts, and take responsibility for our choices. ** Faith Trusts the Goodness of God (James 1:17–18) — Even when circumstances are difficult, God's character never changes. He is the giver of good gifts and spiritual life through His Word. This Week's Challenge: Identify the Bait When you encounter temptation this week, ask yourself three questions: ** The Bait: What is this temptation promising me? ** The Hook: Where will this choice eventually lead? ** God's Good Way: What response would demonstrate my trust in God's goodness? Central Truth: A faith that works endures testing, accepts personal responsibility when tempted, and continues trusting the unchanging goodness of God. Join us as we continue studying the book of James and learning how genuine faith is demonstrated in everyday life. 📖 Scripture: James 1:12–18 (NKJV) 📍 Willette church of Christ Red Boiling Springs, TN If this lesson encourages you, please like, share, and subscribe for more Bible studies and biblical encouragement. #James #James1 #AFaithThatWorks #Temptation #GoodnessOfGod #BibleStudy #ChristianLiving #Faithfulness #ChurchOfChrist #WilletteChurchOfChrist
