Wayne Newton at 84: What Really Happened to Casa de Shenandoah

At 84, Wayne Newton is still performing in Las Vegas, but the sprawling estate that once symbolized his success, Casa de Shenandoah, may soon become a 77-home subdivision. How did the man known as Mr. Las Vegas lose control of his own paradise, survive bankruptcy, and keep walking onto a stage? In this documentary-style investigation, we trace Wayne Newton’s journey from a sickly boy in Virginia to a teenage performer in Las Vegas, the rise of Danke Schoen, the purchase of his famous ranch, the Aladdin Hotel controversy and NBC lawsuit, his 1992 Chapter 11 filing, the failed Graceland-style museum plan, and what his life looks like today. We also separate documented facts from internet rumors about his net worth, because the real story is far more nuanced than “he lost everything.” Timeline of topics covered: early life and asthma, the move to Phoenix, the Las Vegas lounge years, the 1963 hit, building Casa de Shenandoah, the Aladdin investment, the bankruptcy, the CSD dispute, the 2015 public opening, the 2019 sale, the 2026 development proposal, and his current residency.
