Converse says this should never have happened. So how did it? After critics said Converse campaign imagery featuring Karina of aespa evoked imagery associated with the KKK and lynching, Converse removed the image and apologized. There is no evidence those references were intentional. I’m looking at a different question: How does something an organization later says “should not have happened” make it through the approval process in the first place?
