EP NEWS, Pasighat, October 5, 2026: In an exclusive interview, Oni Panyang, MLA of Mariyang-Geku, said the Preliminary Feasibility Report (PFR) for the Siang Upper Multipurpose Project (SUMP) should be completed first before any further decision is taken regarding the project.
Panyang stressed that the concerns and views of the people must remain central to the process. He said he would not agree to any further move concerning the project without the consent of the public.
According to the MLA, the PFR should first provide clarity on the project, its feasibility and possible impacts. Only after the details are known, he said, should further discussions be held with the people.
He reiterated that public consent and participation are essential before proceeding with any decision related to the project in the region.
