After a few days of feasting on Hida beef, we decided to visit a restaurant in Takayama that is just oozing with vintage charm. Kyōya is housed in a mid-19th century Japanese country house where you can still see the preserved wood structure. It is a place where you can enjoy an authentic delicious irori meal (Japanese hearth) prepared with fresh ingredients from local recipes. There are both table or tatami seating in the restaurant.
