The Psychology of Jim Carrey: How a Broken Family Made the Funniest Man Alive

He worked factory shifts after school, got booed off his first stage, and wrote himself a $10 million check years before anyone knew his name. Then he discovered that fame wasn't the answer. In this video, we break down the psychology of Jim Carrey and the 5 mental habits behind his rise — and how you can use them in your own life. The 5 habits: 1. Visualize the process, not just the prize — process simulation (Taylor, Pham, Rivkin & Armor, 1998) 2. Turn pain into play — adaptive humor styles (Martin et al., 2003) 3. Outwork your circumstances — grit (Duckworth et al., 2007) 4. Talk about the darkness — emotional disclosure (Pennebaker, 1997) 5. Don't mistake success for happiness — intrinsic vs. extrinsic goals (Kasser & Ryan, 1996) Chapters: 0:00 The $10 Million Check 1:06 The Boy Who Made His Mother Laugh 2:08 Booed Off the Stage 3:00 The Year Everything Exploded 3:55 The Man Behind the Mask 4:53 Habits 1–2 6:20 Habits 3–5 8:07 Your Turn This channel is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Jim Carrey or his representatives.
