Join me on another adventure through the Harz region in Germany! This journey begins in Blankenburg, where I stay in a historic half-timbered house dating back to 1431. From there, I unexpectedly discover a medieval festival at the spectacular Regenstein Castle ruins, filled with music, traditional crafts and incredible views. The next day, I take on the Teufelsmauer: the Devil’s Wall, following the rocky ridge from Blankenburg towards the famous Hamburger Wappen. Rain, narrow trails, caves and dramatic sandstone formations make this one of the most adventurous hikes of my trip. Back in Blankenburg, I explore the Great Castle, the beautiful Baroque Palace Gardens and stop for tea before continuing my journey to Quedlinburg, one of Germany’s most beautiful medieval towns and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. From ancient churches and half-timbered streets to hidden waterways and a rainy walk through the old town, this part of the Harz definitely left me wanting to come back.
