The lovely Sarah Badel reveals a decidedly more mischievous side in this wonderfully saucy episode of the 1976 anthology series Red Letter Day. 🔥
In “The Five-Pound Orange”, Sarah plays the alluring Nicola, the mistress of middle-aged Gilbert, played by Peter Barkworth — and poor Gilbert soon discovers that keeping Nicola happy is going to cause him considerably more trouble than he bargained for!
In this clip we get to enjoy Sarah looking absolutely fabulous as Nicola, appearing in various states of undress as the episode embraces that unmistakable mixture of sophisticated comedy, grown-up situations and cheeky 1970s British television glamour. 😉
Elegant, playful and effortlessly sexy, Sarah makes Nicola very difficult to take your eyes off — and it's easy to understand why Gilbert has managed to get himself into such a predicament!
🌹 A Little About Sarah Badel
Born in London in 1943, Sarah Badel comes from a distinguished acting family — her parents were actors Alan Badel and Yvonne Owen — and she trained at the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
Sarah developed an impressive career spanning stage, television and film, becoming particularly well known to television audiences as Flora Poste in Cold Comfort Farm (1968) and Lizzie Eustace in The Pallisers (1974).
One of her most memorable classical television performances came in the BBC's The Taming of the Shrew (1980), in which she played the formidable Katherina opposite John Cleese's Petruchio.
Her later screen work included The Shooting Party (1985), Not Without My Daughter (1991), Cadfael, The Tenant of Wildfell Hall (1996) and Mrs Dalloway (1997).
With her mixture of elegance, intelligence and wonderfully dry screen presence, Sarah was equally at home in period drama, Shakespeare or — as this rather delightful clip demonstrates — something considerably more saucy! ❤️
