現在に蘇る薩摩の士魂（Vol.2）― 天吹・薩摩琵琶・野太刀自顕流の真髄 ― The Essence of Tenpuku, Satsuma Biwa, and Nodachi Jigen-ryū

東京音楽大学付属民族音楽研究所2025年度公開講座No.4 「現在に蘇る薩摩の士魂（Vol.2）― 天吹・薩摩琵琶・野太刀自顕流の真髄 ―」 　昔から鹿児島において、天吹・薩摩琵琶・自顕流は、武士の精神・身体を総合的に形成する伝統的な修養体系として重んじられてきた。自顕流の打ちかかるときの叫びは猿叫と呼ばれ、あくまでも実戦的である。その激しさは薩摩琵琶によって涵養された倫理観と精神性に支えられ、天吹の素朴な響きは激烈な情動を鎮め、この三者が一体化されて、薩摩隼人の骨格が形作られたのである。 　昨年度の公開講座「幻の笛『天吹』の復元演奏―現代に蘇る薩摩の士魂（Vol.1）―」では、失われた天吹曲の復元初演を通じて、その伝統の一端を現代に蘇らせ、《チゴデレ》の再生を実現した。本年度は「現代に蘇る薩摩の士魂」Vol.2として、天吹・薩摩琵琶・自顕流の三点が揃って東京で公開される初めての機会となる。鹿児島に根づく文化的レガシーが持つ貴重な地域性を保持しつつ、その伝統を学術的視点からあらためて捉え直すための交流の場になる。 2026年3月29日（日）13:00、東京音楽大学 池袋キャンパス 100周年記念ホール 【講師】白尾國英（天吹）・上川路直光（薩摩琵琶）・伊東丞士（野太刀自顕流） 【出演者】赤﨑紳一・柚木盛吾・柚木陽・柚木ひかる 【ゲスト】原田敬子 【企画・司会】渕上ラファエル広志 【助成】一般財団法人カワイサウンド技術・音楽振興財団 【後援】一般財団法人共研舎 【協力】天吹同好会／薩摩琵琶共研舎道場／野太刀自顕流研修会 Tokyo College of Music - Institute of Ethnomusicology Lecture Series 2025, No. 4: "The Spirit of Satsuma Revives in the Contemporary World, Vol. 2: The Essence of Tenpuku, Satsuma Biwa, and Nodachi Jigen-ryū" 　Since ancient times, in Kagoshima Prefecture, the Tenpuku bamboo flute, the Satsuma Biwa lute, and the Jigen-ryū martial art have been transmitted as a traditional system of comprehensive training, aimed at cultivating both the body and the spirit of the samurai warrior. 　In Jigen-ryu, the cry uttered at the moment of attack with swords or staves is called enkyō and embodies a distinctly combative character. This intense warrior spirit is sustained by the ethics and spirituality cultivated through the Biwa, while the simple sound of the Tenpuku functions as an element of appeasement, calming the heart and tempering the most violent emotions. The integration of these three elements was fundamental to the formation of the spiritual and cultural foundations of the samurai of Satsuma, the former name of Kagoshima. 　Last year, the public conference “The Restoration of Pieces of the Mysterious ‘Tenpuku’ Flute: The Warrior Spirit of Satsuma Revives in the Contemporary World (Vol. 1)” brought this tradition into the present through the first public performance of a restored version of the Tenpuku piece “Chigo-dere.” Long lost to time, the work was recovered through rigorous musicological research and restoration. 　This year, as “The Warrior Spirit of Satsuma Revives in the Contemporary World” Vol. 2, the event offers, for the first time in Tokyo, a joint presentation of the Tenpuku, Satsuma Biwa, and Jigen-ryū. While preserving the valuable regional identity of this cultural heritage deeply rooted in Kagoshima, this initiative provides a space for exchange in which these traditions can be reexamined from a contemporary academic perspective.
