Emergency C-Section For a Gibbon in Labor | Monkey Life Season 9 Episode 2

It is a tense and emotional day at the sanctuary as golden-cheeked gibbon Kim goes into labor but fails to progress naturally. Vet Dez is called in to perform an emergency cesarean section, but despite the team's desperate efforts to stimulate the baby's lungs, the infant tragically does not survive. The focus shifts to Kim's recovery as her partner Tien tries to understand the confusing aftermath of the hospital visit. On a lighter note, 26-year-old white-faced saki monkey Jethro, a former pet, gets a new lease on life when he is introduced to Chloe, a female saki from France. Over at the capuchin enclosure, Franco's group of rescued laboratory monkeys put their brains to the test to crack open nuts and frozen mango. Plus, Lavar's group of woolly monkeys, including hand-reared Bueno Jr., use their nimble fingers to forage for raisins and seeds hidden inside pine cones! Monkey Life follows the work of Monkey World Ape Rescue Centre with nail-biting rescue and rehabilitation stories. Whilst there are primates in need, Dr. Alison Cronin, Jeremy Keeling and their dedicated team continue to fight the illegal trade in primates and give those rescued a safe haven for the rest of their lives.
