The Unbelievable Reaction to a New Enclosure | Monkey Life | Season 17 Episode 5

When you completely alter a captive primate's established territory, their reaction is entirely unpredictable. Even the most experienced keepers cannot anticipate what will happen when the doors finally open. After weeks of intensive labor, the maintenance crew has completely gutted the indoor gibbon habitat, replacing sterile poles with a complex, natural canopy of real trees and flexible branching designed to mimic the wild. Watch the breathtaking moment the pair is granted access to their new jungle. Instead of cautious exploration, the gibbons launch into the canopy and erupt into a series of intense, high-pitched squeals—a profound vocal celebration that the care staff has never witnessed in all their years at the sanctuary. Monkey Life follows the work of Monkey World Ape Rescue Centre with nail-biting rescue and rehabilitation stories. Whilst there are primates in need, Dr. Alison Cronin, Jeremy Keeling and their dedicated team continue to fight the illegal trade in primates and give those rescued a safe haven for the rest of their lives.
