Hello! Today is Day 3 of our “Delicious Vegetable Journey”! Today, we’re going to make Bitter Gourd Fry. When people hear the name bitter gourd, many avoid it because of its bitter taste. But should we really keep a vegetable off our plates just because it tastes bitter? Try this recipe once and tell us whether it changed your opinion about bitter gourd!
2) We’re going to use five to six bitter gourds.
3) Two spoons of gram flour, two spoons of corn flour, one spoon of cumin powder, one spoon of turmeric powder, one spoon of red chilli powder, one spoon of garam masala, one spoon of coriander powder, and the juice of one lemon.
4) We’re going to cut the bitter gourds into round slices. Make sure the slices are neither too thick nor too thin.
5) Now, we’ll cut all the bitter gourds into slices. Even if you don’t usually like bitter gourd, give today’s recipe a try!
6) Once all the bitter gourds are sliced, let’s remove the seeds from the middle of each slice. Take the slices one by one and remove their seeds.
7) There, we’ve removed the seeds from all the bitter gourd slices. Removing the seeds like this will help the masala coat each slice properly.
8) Now, let’s add some flavour to the bitter gourd! Add salt to taste and mix all the slices well with your hands. Mix gently so that the salt coats every slice.
9) Now, leave the bitter gourd aside for ten minutes.
10) After ten minutes, add turmeric powder.
11) Add cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, and red chilli powder.
12) First, let’s add the corn flour, followed by the gram flour.
13) Now, gently mix everything together with your hands so that the masala, gram flour, and corn flour coat every bitter gourd slice evenly. Make sure each slice is covered with the masala mixture. This will help every slice absorb the flavour while frying.
14) Place a pan on the stove and add two spoons of oil.
15) Once the oil is hot, carefully place the bitter gourd slices into the pan one by one. Spread them out evenly so they can fry properly.
16) Look, the bitter gourd slices have fried nicely on one side. Now, turn them over one by one and let the other side fry as well.
17) Keep the flame low and turn the bitter gourd slices from time to time. This will help them cook evenly on both sides and prevent the masala from burning.
18) Our Bitter Gourd Fry is ready! Now, we’ll follow the same method for the remaining slices. Place them in the pan one by one and fry them over a low flame.
19) And here is our special Bitter Gourd Fry for today! Many people avoid bitter gourd because of its bitter taste, but the right masala and frying method give it a completely different flavour. With its lovely crispiness on the outside and delicious masala coating, this fry will make your meal even more enjoyable!
