Vanlife in Australia | Newcastle | Tea Gardens | Hawks Nest

Come for a ride with me, Jason, as I vlog my life living in my self converted Ford Transit campervan, slow travelling (very slow) in Australia. After injuring my wrist while learning to Paraglide, I've had to put my licence course on hold until my wrist heals. Unfortunately this means reduced mountain biking and no kayaking. Since I've been around Newcastle and Lake Macquarie for the last 3 weeks, I decided to head off somewhere new for a week or so. After a short stop to have a look at the Kooragang National Park wetlands area, I drove the 1 hr trip to Tea Gardens, north of Newcastle. I had a short walk along the river's edge, checking out some of the art works along the way, before retreating to the boat ramp. There's a fish and chip shop right next to the boat ramp, so I caved in to the temptation and bought some fish and potato scallops for dinner. Friday morning saw beautiful calms waters in the morning. I headed over to Winda Woppa to eat breakfast with a view before moving down to Jimmys Beach in Hawks Nest in preparation for a long walk out to the headland of the Karuah River. Unfortunately the track to the peak was closed, but still managed to get some good views on the way and watched a large pod of dolphins for a while.
