Scripture of the day: Philippians 4:13
"For I can DO everything through CHRIST who gives me strength."
INGREDIENTS:
-2 CUPS FLOUR
-1 TSP SALT
-1 TSP BAKING POWDER
-2 TBSP LARD (ARMOUR is one brand and EL MEXICANO and other or SHORTENING (organic vegetable shortening)
-1/2 CUP WARM WATER
DIRECTIONS:
Step 1–In a medium bowl, combine 2 cups flour, 1 tsp salt, and 1 tsp baking powder.
Step 2–Cut in the 2 Tbsp. Of lard and thoroughly combine.
Step3–Gradually add 1/2 cup warm water (not hot ), and toss together till dough can be gathered into a ball.
Step4–If necessary add more water, 1 tbsp at a time.
Step4–Knead dough 15 to 20 times NOT too much because it will get too tough.
Step 5–Let dough rest 5 minutes. Divide dough into 8 to 12 balls depending on the size you want.
Step 6–On a lightly floured surface use a rolling pin to flatten and roll out the tortilla to the desired size 8 inch or 10 inch
Step 7–Place rolled tortilla on heated skillet or griddle or comal, cook approximately 25-30 seconds or less (play with it, it depends on how hot your comal is) on each side.
Step 8–When cooled down to room temperature, wrap your leftover tortillas in a large plastic ziplock bag or foil or a tortilla warmer, for up to 4-5 days .(you can reheat them in the microwave maybe 15 seconds or reheat your comal and heat them there or simply on the burner on your stovetop 🔥 turning quickly to heat both sides. This recipe makes 10 to 12 tortillas.
