Project Security and User Management for a TIA Portal Project | AnyAutomation Studio

AnyAutomation Studio is an AI-native engineering IDE for PLC programming, built on VS Code, that works with both Siemens TIA Portal and CODESYS. A TIA Portal project carries its own security and user management: whether the project is protected and who administers it, the password policies, the project and central users, the user groups, and the roles with their engineering and device rights. Studio makes all of it readable, changeable and protectable from the project tree, with an honest line drawn around what TIA Portal will not let a tool change. Open Security settings in the project tree and you get two pages. The Settings page shows the protection state and who holds the administrator role, plus three password policy pages, for Runtime and Engineering, for the S7-1200 and 1500 CPUs, and for legacy PLCs. The Users and roles page shows every project user, the central accounts and groups from a user management server, and the roles, both the ones TIA Portal defines and the custom roles a project adds, each with its engineering and runtime rights. Every value TIA Portal does not expose to a programming interface is marked read only, with a plain reason, so you always know what is really there. The assistant works over the same area. Ask in plain words whether the project is protected, how many users and roles it has and what the password rules are, and it answers from the live project. Ask it to add a user, change the password policies, or create a role and set its rights, and it makes the change and previews it first, so a change that removes access is shown to you before it is written. Setting a password and protecting a project stay yours to do in Studio. And protection itself: give an unprotected project its first administrator from Studio, behind two confirmations and a typed project name, because it cannot be undone. Once it is on, the project asks for a user name and a password every time it is opened, in Studio and in TIA Portal alike.
