Today I went deep inside Makoko, one of the most talked-about communities in Lagos, Nigeria. I travelled through the waterside by canoe and saw homes, businesses, fishermen, families and schools built around the water. Some of the living conditions honestly shocked me, especially seeing the environment where children are expected to learn. But Makoko showed me something else too: COMMUNITY. ❤️ I saw people working, supporting each other, taking care of their families and making the best of the circumstances around them. This experience reminded me how much many of us take for granted and why we should never judge people based on where or how they live. Makoko deserves more than people simply looking at its poverty. The people deserve dignity, respect, opportunities and better living conditions.
