MR2 Championship 2026 Round 12 - Thruxton - Car 10, Andy Baranowski

A nice clear lap in race 1 had me lined up a dizzying third for race 2 of the day! I'd qualified ahead of Shaun Traynor's MK2, and really wanted to keep him at bay if i stood any chance of hassling the top guys! After getting a good run on Owen Thornhill's silver MK3 through Church i'm disappointed i didn't shut the door more convincingly on the inside - Traynor's experience means he knows he only needs 3/4 of an MR2's width to make it work, and after a little hip-check at the chicane (which rattled my helmet off the roll cage quite hard!) I had to settle in behind and play catch-up. I was struggling out the back of the circuit - Noble through to Church - with some wild high speed instability vs the first race - i'm unsure if the geometry had been knocked or the tyres just got hotter quicker, I held on as best I could but couldn't make any forward progress. A little luck came my way with Adam Lockwood's wild trip over the sausage kerbs at the chicane, and i almost got Scott on the line, but otherwise it was a tough race of just trying to stay in the draft!
