NYC Day 2: We Got Stuck in The Hotel Elevator, Empire State, Harry Potter & Nintendo, and Juniors

It’s day 2 of our NYC trip 2025, and it’s Rowan’s 18th Birthday! Happy Birthday Rowan! The morning started rough. Melissa and Rowan got stuck in the elevator at the Holiday Inn Express Times Square. Melissa does give the hotel credit for coming and getting us very quickly, but the hotel didn’t do anything additional to make them feel better about the experience. The rest of the trip, Rowan had trouble using the elevator. After Melissa and Rowan calmed down, they headed to the Empire State Building. They really enjoyed their experience here. Melissa loved all of the history and immersive features they offered. Great photo spots too. They did experience the 86-floor observation deck and that was awesome. Amazing views. Melissa and Rowan tried to eat lunch at Tacombi, which is right outside of the Empire State Building, but Rowan was the only one that got their food. Melissa asked them to remove her order, and they did and removed the appetizers, but that was a bummer. After their failed lunch attempt, they headed to the Harry Potter Store. Melissa and Rowan really enjoyed their visit here. The store has all kinds of merch and photo opportunities. Lots of fun and they gave us some freebies when we checked out and mentioned it was Rowan’s birthday! After Harry Potter, and a quick lunch stop for Melissa, they headed to the Nintendo store. Rowan loved the Nintendo Store. There is memorabilia, lots of great merchandise, and games you can demo. Great photo opportunities here as well. For dinner Melissa and Rowan have Juniors. This is a popular tourist spot, but Melissa enjoys it. They had some great food and service and of course some cheesecake. After dinner it was time for a show. Melissa and Rowan saw Wicked at the Gershwin Theatre. The leg room was tight, but the show was amazing and their seats were pretty good.
