Day 7 - Camino Frances - Uterga to Villatuerta

Camino de Santiago Day 7 (9th of May) Uterga to Villatuerta - 25km We left Uterga at 6.30 this morning, hoping that we could make it to Estella (28km). Today’s route was quite different, we went through a few small villages and stopped at Villatuerta where we are staying for tonight. In hind sight, it is good that we did not push through to Estella as we found out at dinner that all accommodation in Estella was fully booked. The first town that we walked through was Muruzabal, it is a small village with a population of under 300. We decided to not take the 2.5km detour to see the Church of Unate as we had such a long way to walk today. It would probably have been worth the extra distance 😞. We stopped for breakfast in the picturesque town of Puente La Reina. From there the steep ascend started all the way to the next town, Mañeru In Mañeru we decided to have a rest break, and air our feet. This town boasts a number of impressive coats of arms carved into the homes. We were totally exhausted when we reached Lorca and debated sleeping there for the evening. We had a quick snack and then made our way to the town of Villatuerta. We secured accommodation in a Casa Rural 😊
