First Look at the Hebmüller in Person!

Have you been following our progress on a vintage Volkswagen Beetle restoration? After months of planning and countless Zoom calls, I finally travel to the Netherlands to see my Hebmüller project in person! Before we leave, Uyen and I make one last stop in South Carolina to pick up a set of rare hand-built window channel rails destined for the restoration. Once we arrive in the Netherlands, Ruud welcomes us into the body shop where he introduces me to Ice, the incredibly talented craftsman responsible for the extensive metal work on this rare 1950 Hebmüller. Then comes the moment I've been waiting for... The cover comes off. Seeing the car in bare metal for the first time was surreal. Ruud and Ice explain the unique engineering that makes a Hebmüller different from a standard Beetle Cabriolet, how much original metal was saved, what had to be fabricated by hand, and why restoring one of these cars is unlike restoring almost anything else Volkswagen ever built.
