The One That I Adore

Lyrics ©JenniferMcCoy2026 Inspired by: Y'all, I’ve just been sitting here thinking on some words that have been heavy on my heart lately, and I wanted to share the story behind them. This whole song came out of looking at how easy it is for us to get caught up in the motions of going to church and doing good deeds. We can fill up our calendars with every prayer meeting, revival, missions and ministry, but at the end of the day, those things don't punch our ticket. It’s a reminder that performative religion doesn't carry any weight when we finally stand face to face with the gatekeeper. I’ve seen plenty of darkness in this old world, just like we all have, but I’m still making the choice to walk in the light. That line about wanting to dive in deeper is really just a cry from a soul that’s tired of shallow, comfortable faith. When that final night comes and the things of this world just vanish away, all our church titles and badges won't matter a bit. It’s just going to be us and the Lord, and I want to make sure my heart is truly surrendered so I can fly up to that golden shore with the One I adore. I just wanted to put this out there for anyone else who might be needing to pull away from the noise and get back to what really matters.
