Lyrics©JenniferMcCoy2026 Inspired by: Sometimes God uses our dreams to show us exactly how strong we are—and exactly who we can count on when the dust settles. A little while ago, I had an incredibly vivid, heavy dream that shook me to my core. It pulled from a painful chapter in my past. But in this dream, the narrative shifted. I was caught off guard by an attacker, but I didn’t freeze. Something deep within my bones woke up. I fought back, grabbed the weapon, eliminated the threat, and escaped completely on my own. I was strong enough to save myself. But the dream didn't end with the victory. The heaviest part came right after. When I reached out to those I thought were closest to me and told them what happened, they did nothing. Instead of holding me, protecting me, or helping me find a way forward, they grouped up, changed all the rules, and walked away—leaving me completely stranded at the crossroads with no way home. Waking up from that was an exhausting, lonely kind of grief. It highlighted a painful reality that so many survivors understand: the betrayal of the aftermath can hurt just as deeply as the original trauma. It’s the ache of realizing that the people who should have your back simply cannot—or will not—see your pain. Out of that raw emotion, this song was born. It is a song for anyone who has ever had to be their own hero, only to look around and find themselves completely isolated by the people closest to them. But more than that, it is a declaration of ultimate surrender and trust. When human hands fail us, when earthly bloodlines turn away, and the road ahead feels totally blocked, there is still One who stays. I don't need to beg people to see my scars anymore. I don't need to look in the rearview mirror, waiting for a rescue that isn't coming. Jesus is the keeper of my story, the lifter of my head, and the only path forward. When the world walks away, He steps right into the wild to meet us. He is the only One that I trust.
