Theresia Forgey: Early Years

Video 1 of 8 — Early Years In celebration of Theresia Forgey’s birthday, we’re releasing an 8-part video series honoring her life, one chapter every two hours today. Theresia was born in Keerbergen, Belgium, in the middle of World War II. Photos from her earliest years are rare — between the war and a later house fire that destroyed many family pictures, few remain. Most of what survives shows her with her older brother, Jos, and her mother, Bertha, while her father was away at war or working. Her sister, Veronica, wasn’t born until ten years later — each sibling arriving a decade apart. The final footage is 8mm film shot by Theresia’s husband, Ron, on his first visit to Belgium two years after they married. The little boy is Bruno, her nephew through Jos and Lourdes.
